Fact of the Day: Birds In Auto-Pilot

Did you know that vultures can soar for hours without one beat of their wings?

 

Vultures are scavenging birds, feeding mostly on the carcasses of dead animals and they can be found on every continent except Antarctica and Oceania. They can use hot air currents to glide and hover in search of food for hours. When circling in the air, a group of vultures is called a kettle.
