Parent Life Tip #24: Pencil in Quality Time

Try to organize some time together as a family a few times a week – perhaps three meals a week you could sit down to eat as a family. Really commit. Write on the calendar on the fridge or set alarms to remind yourself. These little pauses will give you all a chance to connect and talk about the important issues, as well as the more fun topics. Ask your children to help you with the chores or to run errands. They may protest but they will feel included in your life rather than being an outsider.

  1. You’d be surprised the value and great energy that can form around skipping just ONE Tv show. That 30 minute block can turn into a few unforgettable hours. Take photos, play games, do fun stuff together and be silly. It will be something the kids will always be looking forward to.
